E Lev En Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Well I don't really have any idea on how to start out, I was just wondering if anyone would help me and figure out something I could do to lose some weight and gain some muscle, In general just get in better shape. I'm at around 190 lbs at the moment and i'm 5'6". I want to be around 160-170. Edited May 7, 2013 by E Lev En
Silentc0re Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 You cant lose weight and gain muscle tbh as far as i know,You really just need to shed the weight and then look at gaining muscle.
Nory Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Pretty good goals so far Eleven. I'd recommend starting off with some resistance training and cardio combo - not sure what exercises you've tried in the past and whatnot but you can try Googling different resistance training/cardio exercises. Make sure you have a good diet, plenty of fiber, protein, carbs, good fats etc. Cut out as much saturated/hydrogenerated fat as possible - fast food, crisps/chips, fries, burgers, milkshakes, cakes - all a no no! But feel free to indulge and treat urself every so often (no more than twice a week) Unfortunately I'm limited with the weights/lifting info I give you because it's different for girls so.. I can't really suggest much for that But pretty sure there's enough testosterone on here to help you. Edited May 7, 2013 by Nory
Scimmy Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 i use to weigh the same as you or a little more but joined wrestling and dropped to 170 in about 4 months i tried low to 0 carbs but that didn't work out so i gave up on that lol the best thing that worked out for me was limiting how many calories i eat a day. i limited my calorie in-take in to about 1500-1700 a day only did cardio for about 2 times a week and the weight just sheds off

Dog Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Be on a caloric deficit, i.e calculate your daily maintenance calories with something like http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm then eat less than maintenance, start lifting. there's plenty of routines on www.bodybuilding.com .. if you feel fitness could stick and that you will carry on i'd keep the caloric deficit at a minimum and stretch out the process of the cut so that your metabolism doesn't slow the fuck down and you end up not being able to lose weight on a really high deficit after a while. I highly doubt you're currently eating enough hydrogenated or saturated fats for it to be a health issue, and specific types of dietary fat don't effect fat loss.. i'd say aim for about 70g of fat, 1g of protein/1lb of bodyweight and then adjust carbs to be the appropriate amount of calories you're going for.. Cardio, I wouldn't bother doing a load of steady state cardio, just do HIIT every few days along with lifting
Ready Ok FOE Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 go to the gym. ask them to make a scedual for you. go 3-5x per week to the gym. first months u do full body workouts and after that a long time of cardio. u'll get stronger. might aswell go to a real fitness forum and read all stickys lol
