BlizzleXX Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Okay so i have a decently good comuter no reason to be lagging from runescape, im 99% sure its i dont have a good wireless connection to my modem...idk i did a little bit of researching...sounds like wireless isnt good for any games at all how many of you guys use wireless and are okay? also my bedroom is semi-far away from modem i know that has a issue. So what are my options i want to get a wired connection but i cant really run a wire place i rent wont let me drill (know this from when i got cable, why i dont have it in my room ) i guess i could staple it allong the ceiling or maybe its just i need a new modem a better one with better ranges but will that still even be as good as a wired connection? Or if i was gonna run a cable it wouldnt be a ethernet cord it'd be cable cord so i could get cable also and im pretty sure my internet runs through that too i'd just need to get another router i don't really know how it works? help would be great..like sometimes my internet runs alright and sometimes its complete shit i lose signal strength bars all the time sometimes im at 2 bars..... Anybody here used the nero powerline thing before? reviews i read are all bad so i don't trust it
Marc Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hmm , wireless should be fine man.. How is your signal in your room , is it strong or do u lose signal every now and then?
Ashley Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 get a new modem. same thing happen to me exactly last week.
Callum Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I use wireless. It could be many things. Shitty provider that lags at peak times, busy area, low computer memory/shitty computer. My be worth cleaning your computer and removing some programmes.
Razwald Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Make sure your connection is secure and others near you aren't leeching off of it.
Str in sara1 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 i use wireless also and usually you have to turn off the modem for awhile then turn it back on then my internet will work fine again
Dizzy Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Is there a way to move the router to your room, so that you can wire the connection?
i tauntz i Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 wireless will never be as good at weird however a wireless connection will be fine for rs and like 99% of anything you will use it for probs shitty provider or possibly pc i think it may be the modem i had issues with mine a few months back and got a better one and it works perfectly fine now
BlizzleXX Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 thanks guys, and yeah only way i can get it in my room is running a cable all the way up which im trying to avoid but might have to
BlizzleXX Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 i also just have shitty modem the cable company gave me
BlizzleXX Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) so yeah definitely think its my modem, heres some reviews on it, "terrible product" 1 stars | on April 29, 2013 by aottaviani Pros None, the wireless N has a very weak signal that is slow, and the modem has to be restarted and re provisioned every 2 weeks!! Cons terrible design , tech support is very annoying , every time you call they make you do the same steps over and over, even though they have notes and know you have done this they only know what the operator manual says,Needless to say not much help Summary DO NOT BUY , docsys 2.0 is fast than this paperweight, Motorola does not have the quality they had 3 years ago "eXtreme Frustration! Wireless is useless." 0.5 stars | on March 2, 2013 by darkbeermenow Pros Got rid of some excess money I had laying around. Saved my isp from having to rent me hardware that might actually work. Cons Motorola promised blazing wireless speeds. Dial-up would be faster and less frustrating. I will never purchase another motorola device ever! Summary If you want to spend countless hours browsing tech forums in an attempt to get the wireless on this device to work then by all means go ahead and purchase it. Edited May 27, 2013 by `OneTime
Rogers Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Depends which company you are with & the signal quality provided - check if there now pumping out fibre to you rather than standard, many companies have switched over :)
