Bodybuilding-basically going to your local commercial gym to get some muscle size and definition. Not amazing for functional strength but you will look good. Also dieting. Just because you look like a mean mofo doesn't mean you can kick anybody's ass.

Strongman-basically a competition that tests for purely brute strength. No weight classes so its best for wide framed large people. Events include a keg throw, truck pull, etc. everyone who does strongman looks like a NFL lineman

Crossfit-best for overall health. Involves an intense amount of cardio exercises and numerous repetitions of different lifts. Basically tests for the most fit person in all aspects of fitness itself. You get ripped as fuark. IMO the best for shedding fat

I've done some Crossfit here and there at uni but I'm not a fan of the compound lifts or movements,  I prefer simple body building lifts but that's just my opinion.

Have watched a bit of Strongman on TV and it's impressive to see such huge weight moved but again not something I'm really going for, more about the physique side for me.
