DeltaPapa Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Brought a new computer and the CPU fan rpm is sooo high, It makes the computer hot and also extremely loud. When i go into BIOS to turn it down i can't select to turn it down at all. When i use speed fan it doesnt do anything. Anyone know why i cant select it in bios? I managed to get the speed down using a programme however of course the tempreture rises. Atm its hovering around 58-65 celsuius. I have no idea if that is good or too high? Uaex-Ali Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I doubt you can decrease the rpm of the fan from the system, it has to be done manually

A b e o Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 What kind of harddrive do you have? i advice you to swap to a SSD this will make your computer faster and it wont heat up as fast if this doesnt help i dunno what could.

Luke Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hardware issue perhaps.. You cracked it open and looked at the fan? Often caked in dust and mostly nonfunctional.

DeltaPapa Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Its litrally brand new so nothing wrong in terms of dust etc. I managed to get the speed down using a programme however of course the tempreture rises. Atm its hovering around 58-65 celsuius. I have no idea if that is good or too high? so thats my new question
Luke Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Seems high. If you can control the speed, then it's functional... still too hot means you're looking at hardware issues. Run diagnostics. You build this thing yourself? Might just not be put together sensibly.

Yeah i can control the speed so trying to find a speed which doesnt make enough noise however keeps computer cool atm.
Callum Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hardware issue perhaps.. You cracked it open and looked at the fan? Often caked in dust and mostly nonfunctional. ^ Make sure its in good condition, you can always install another fan, see what that does
Lubo Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) It's most likely your case most that come with pre built systems from walmart like retailers are shit, i'd assume it would be the stock cpu cooler there shit aswell, how old is the pc? You may need to put new thermal paste on. Edited August 2, 2013 by Lubo
