it's a funny little game, runescape.

 

some valid point here, especially the point about a single lag spike shitting on hours of work, also the grind the game requires which pushes so many players to botting.

Runescape is very close to being an open world mmo. This differs from the theme park mmo's for the fact that there exists risk. There is a ton of theme park mmo's on the market for people to play if they wish to do that.

 

The whole botting thing is a bigger issue now, even in rs3(where leveling is much easier) than it was many years ago. The game has gotten easier so botting doesn't exist because the game is too hard.
