Get your self some nice stands so you can get them about 6.5-7ft in the air. The only thing I dislike about peavy is their aesthetics. They make very ugly speakers except for sp-bx series. I plan on buying 4 dual 15 cabs and 6 dual 18 subs to start up my own venue pa system. The only downfall is that they are un-powered so most of my money will be going to the amplification. b212d is also another great option about 200$ for about 300 watts rms. i don't think the pr12s look too bad. and yea, gonna have a stand to get those at the least 5 feet in the air. i have a 15% off coupon on purchases over 200 at guitar center, MSRP for the pr12s is about 209 if i looked correctly, they have em there for 190

Anthony Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 spent $897.51 on 2 of those, stands and cables with 3 years pro coverage. gonna play a couple weddings to pay them off., how did you start playing weddings kreamie? im gonna make some business cards and hand em out

I reckon the best way to begin is by downloading a DAW like Ableton or ProTools. That's what I did last time when I tried to start Djing. Thing is, when I got the program I just did random stuff without any real direction. Whats the best way to go about learning a DAW software so that I can actually progress towards creating some music. I mean like, there is so much to learn, and I'm not sure what are the most essential things to learn to do first.

I mean like, there is so much to learn, and I'm not sure what are the most essential things to learn to do first. i wouldn't do that at all first id start thinking of songs that mix well together, that to me is the hardest part, once you can pick songs that fit well together we can start work on beat matching, if your not serious about it then use the sync button, but i advise never to use the sync button and just match it up yourself, it's not too hard, learning the layout of a controller takes a couple hours to get comfortable with it and from then on the picking songs is gonna be your next spot. adding fx (effects) is also a nice touch but dont get too carried away from it, learn what they all sound like and pick 2 or 3 and stick with those, keep it sorta simple, dont wanna get too carried away with it

kreamie pies Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 (edited) I have a wedding tomorrow morning ill post some pics Anyways before anyone considers being a dj you have to spend money to make money, most expensive part is sound then music. If you own your own business or have a LLC you cannot play illegal music, Well you can't do that anyways. Equipment companies are cracking down on that. Pretty soon you wont be able to play any downloaded music on your controller or software unless you actually bought it. Start buying songs from a cd pool, Its about 10-20$ a CD, You will want to buy all their back collections from the 50's to now, Total its going to cost about 1500-2000$ to get a hefty legal music collection. Just my .2 if you want to make a career out of it. Anyways gotta load up the truck will update. Btw nice speakers ant, I like them a lot, After you pay them off upgrade to the 15's you won't regret it. I plan on getting a set of the 15's for a dj under my wing. Edit: Ant get hydraulic speaker stands, It makes life a lot easier. Get the TS110b. Buy one get one free 149.99 But If you opt for the 15's get the bigger stands they will cost about 350$ for the pair. Safety is #1 priority. I started out djing in 5th grade doing a school dance. Shortly after that I was doing my friends parties and family events then I got my first wedding witch was for my aunt. She paid in cash upfront so I upgraded my sound system for the wedding after that I got photos from the photographer put together a little website and started getting gigs instantly.
