If Jagex become abit more lenient with the botting and RWT then we are bound to see an increase in players. Due to the fact that nobody really has time to play anymore, and for the fun things in this game you normally need good stats and cash.

 

At the moment there just isn't enough to bring in new players, so there will also be more updates.

Those things kill the game long term. Botting removes any sense of achievement for the players botting and kills the drive of the legitimate players as they can't hope to compete.

 

I honestly can't understand how you'd think botting would improve the playerbase.

 

Because majority of the people playing this game couldn't care anymore, they have maxed out before and they can not be bothered to sit here for another 10000 hours to max out again. Im not saying botting will help, but Jagex cant keep doing these mass bans or this game will die just as quickly as it game in. They need to understand that they aren't bringing new people in anymore, its all old people hanging around. You need good stats and cash to actually have fun, and nobody really has time to do either. 

 

That's your mindset and sadly it doesn't work like that. Why do you think MMO's have a steep leveling curve? theyre not there just to fuck with you they are there to put a time barrier on everything. It's proven that the more you log in and do something in a game the more likely you'll stay. Look at rs3, botting and easy levels galore and compared to any top mmo it's struggling really really badly.

 

It's arugable whether or not botting on an inidividual basis actually makes the game more enjoyable or not. But as a whole community it really screws over the game. You either bot, buy gold or no-life like no tomorrow to compete. Trust me when I say bots will not help the game at all.

 

Its not my mindset, I actually wish there was no bots and I wish the game was fair as its meant to be, and that's not the case. A vast majority of the current community do bot and they bot for the reason I did state above, there is no other reason to bot. The time barrier is to make the game enjoyable, however its repetitive, and since we have done it already it can get tedious. Botting makes the game enjoyable for the person botting, not for the people who actually play the game legit.

 

The community for this game has changed a lot since I first started, and not for the best, or so it seems.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge supporter of botting, but since I have played for a long time I can understand where most people are coming from.

 

I agree. I started in 05 and joined the pure community in 07 but nobody I knew botted back then.

 

The intresting thing is avg levels were much lower then. You didn't have to "do a lot of repetition" to enjoy the game because most people didnt have any 99s, nowadays people think you need 99s to enjoy the game and I can sadly admit I fell into that mindset, although I had the summer to get my levels so it wasn't that bad.

 

Also my cat just farted and my room stinks of shit. fml.
