Im thinking about torrenting it then burning to a disk to install, i want to set it up first though without replacing my genuine vista. So how  can i dual boot it and install on my 2 hard disk? Also if anyones already done it, do the keys work with automatic updates?

it's easy, all you need to do is partition your hard disk. Look up how to partition hdd... then slam disk into your cd drive, restart and select from boot menu to boot from cd drive. once in setup you just need to select partition that you made and install into it. after that once you boot windows you get to select which windows to boot. easy.

Do i need to partition the HDD because i plan on installing it to a blank HDD (d:) that i have never used, i only use c: drive. I looked up i would go about installing it and i believe i am to choose custom set up then choose the HDD that i want to install it to?

This way i wouldnt lose my Vista boot right?

Ive never done it before so i dont wanna overwrite my genuine vista which came with my pc because i didnt get a installation disk as it was pre-installed. So if i can get windows installed and all drivers working etc then i get switch to 7 :)

Unplug current HDD, plug in new blank one.

Install it.

Easiest way to do it if you're not sure what you're doing.

I bought it, and installed it today. Seems similar to Vista, but has some improvements, some things I just don't like.

I bought a genuine copy, I don't really recommend a cracked copy of an operating system, especially a new one, if you don't do updates at early stages you'll encounter problems. I also change/upgrade crap a lot and would rather a stable genuine one to minimise problems.

I'm not really that impressed, Vista was fine for me, but it's really a needed step, XP won't be supported soon, and new games soonish will require DX11, which I believe is only on Windows 7? So yeah, worth it for me.

Its not a cracked version really as they have genuine keys because its a retail version and it will have working updates. Im going to install it on a separate drive so i can dual boot it. If i encounter problems then i'll switch back to vista.

Vista worked fine for me but I installed Windows 7 (a genuine copy offered by my university) yesterday and it works/looks great. Start-up times are faster and everything looks a little nicer.

i would prefer to by a genuine copy like i have on xp and vista but im not going to pay the joke of a price they are offering. My laptop is not even a year old so im not paying £60 or $100 for a new operating system.

Need more advice

Ok so i'm going to burn the WINDOWS 7 to a disk

Then i need to install it but not overwrite my current vista

I have two separate Hard Disks c:\ and d:\

How can i get it so i install W7 on HDD d:\ and then be able to multiboot or choose what OS to boot from.

What else do i have to do or am i doing it correctly?

Performance is better, uses less resources and uses less battery. I'll need it for college and uni so i may aswell get it now with a discounted price.
