x360 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Anyone have some tips and starting references to getting in shape a little? I mean I played soccer for the longest time and kept up with my cardio since school ended and college started, but my diet and upper body isn't where I'd like it to be. Anyone have some starting tips and references for me to work on a routine?

Low Bridd Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 if you're trying to lose weight eat less calories and exercise?
x360 Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Are you trying to lift or what? Yeah ideally I'd like to get into lifting and work on upper body strength. if you're trying to lose weight eat less calories and exercise? Not really trying to loose weight just stay/get in shape.
Bjorn Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 First step is to decide what you want to achieve first: lose fat or gain muscles? Get a proper schedule (internet, fitness forums). As I'm not English it's hard to help you for me when it comes to this. Don't know the exact terms in English etc. Wish you the best of luck buddy.

Skidddz Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 All depends what you really want out of it tbh, weight/muscle gain I'd say first step join a gym and start upping your calorie intake. Bear in mind though if you're gonna keep playing football I wouldn't really go down the weight gain path too much, when I did, I sacrificed alot of my speed, had to go from playing as a winger to a centre back cause I literally couldn't keep up with my old self. Nothing wrong with putting a bit of meat on your bones just work out how much you want to gain first before diving in

Robbyy Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Are you trying to lift or what? Yeah ideally I'd like to get into lifting and work on upper body strength. http://scoobysworkshop.com/starting-strength-by-mark-rippetoe/ Give that a read. Cool routine that'll make you stronger in a nice amount of time. If you've never taken strength training seriously then it's a good routine to follow for a bit.

Ikz Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Need a lot more detail like do you go to a gym, what are your short term/long term goals, your current diet, what you want to change about your diet. Which parts of your upper body are you looking to improve (chest, shoulders, arms, back, core). Looking at routines given by other people generally isn't the best as the best routines are the ones you feel most comfortable with which comes from experimenting in the gym. We're about the same height and you're about ten pounds heavier than me, are you looking to put on muscle immediately or cut fat?

Current Diet: Not very balanced in any way possible. Focusing: I'd like to focus on my arms and core right now. Looking to: Put muscle on not immediately just get in the routine that I am able to do that.
