Mighty_Irwin Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Might be buying a new laptop soon and I don't know much about computers. Anything specific I should be looking for or a certain brand (not getting a mac)? The only gaming on my comp I really do is RS.

Mighty_Irwin Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 y laptop .............. because they're portable and college...........
Callum Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Well what are you going to be using it most for? -Gaming - Streaming -Download movies -Work etc I just bought a new laptop that's good for gaming and work, forgot what kind though (lol) need to run back to my room and grab the specs for you.
E ric Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) Don't look for any specific brand, simply look at the specs and then do some research on the laptop. If you are looking for the best buy no matter the cost start off with an i7 processor because thats pretty much what all laptops have now days. For graphics cards look at the number. It will read something like gtx 750m for a laptop. The m simple means mini, which is the type of cards that go into laptops(yes they are less powerful). Pretty self explanatory, the first number stands for the series and the last 2 for the type in that series. So pretty much the higher you go on the last 2 numbers the better the graphics are going to be. And the higher the series also the better the graphics will be. I suggest using http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ to compare cards. Also if you see a laptop that has dual graphics make sure they are able to be powered together as 1. It will usually say like dual gtx 750m SLI, If the SLI isn't there then it likely isn't worth it. Other than that, the more memory you have obviously the more you can download. But it will also help the performance of your pc. If you only do RS then none of this really matters, but I made this mistake my first time too. Thinking I was only going to play rs on it then ended up doing more but not having a good enough pc. http://www.newegg.com/ is a good site to search for fair priced computer and laptops Edited July 9, 2014 by E ric
Bjorn Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I'd go for an Asus or a Toshiba: 14 - 15.6 inch. Not that expensive, but very decent.
