Mobility

How much attention do you pay to it?

it is not until recently, when i started doing a lot more squatting (back, front and overhead) as well as olympic lifting that I realized how shit 90% of people's mobility is who lift.

people either settle for shit form / range of motion or they just dont know better.

The truth is you open yourself to lift so much more and with so much less injury if you do simply stretches and foam roller work.

if anybody is genuinely interested in this then feel free to ask and i will help with what coaches at my gym and other guides I have used.

if you aint hitting below parallel with your feet below your hits on a squat then you doing it wrong. simple.

if your bending over looking like your sucking your dicking doing a squat, your doing it wrong.

I don't lift as i am a poor skinny guy with metal keeping my wrists in tact, but i would say mobility is fucking important. thankfully most of my exercise is just small weights, high reps, and i do a lot of cardio to "counter" my smoking

two of my friends who are keen lifters (6ft2/3) have incredibly high mobility (they both play for saracens u21 or u19 or something along those lines)

but most of the others either look like lumpy rugby players with no agility or are just gym rats who you want to kill

I've been wanting to focus on mobility/agility more for a bit now. Even though I just recently started strength training and whatnot, as you said it's very beneficial.

My mobility is piss poor, I really need to be more consistent with that there foam roller and stretching.  As soon as my neck started playing up again my mobility went down and down, it's something one has to keep up.

There's a lot of studies backing the correlation between mobility and strength.  The more mobile a you are , the more ROM you have, the more ROM you have, the more power you're able to generate. It makes sense.  The deeper you squat, the more force you're able to generate on the up.  That is if your squat form is correct.

Another reason to consider the importance of mobility is the reduction of injury.  If you have a lack of mobility with say your spine and dead/squat incorrectly, you'll get a one way ticket to snap city.

Girl I'm dating has just started crossfit, her mobility was already good prior to starting but it's gotten even better due to the mobility classes she's been attending on top of the strength classes.   I'm keen to give Crossfit a go , but A) It's $50 a week vs $10 and B)  The nearest decent Crossfit gym is a good while away.
