Need opinions(back problems)

Ok so last july.

My back fucked up to the point where it hurts to walk.

It takes about a good 10 hour sleep for me to be able to walk the next morning.

No pills really help. So I've handled all of this pain naturally.

It's gotten to the point where I'm really depressed to even socialize.

I've caught myself in complete silence for the past month staring at the walls in social gatherings.

I got a herniated disc L4-L5 it's near the central area of the back.

The disc pushes right into my nerve and it's gotten to the point where I can't sit down for more than an hour.

I can't lift my left leg more than a foot.

May 28th, is my surgery date. I've been told it's a 50/50 chance on surgery that I won't be able to walk again.

They're going to cut off half of a disc and they never mentioned anything about filling in that gap.

I'm left with surgery or chiropractors as a decision.

Surgery, chance I won't walk again. chance something will fuck up(at work, I work with iron/steel). and I may die.

Chiropractors, pain would keep coming back most likely. and/or the disc would slip out again like previously.

May not seem like big deal. but if surgery fucks up, I won't carry life on anymore.

Thoughts ?

Surgery/chiropractor??

Id honestly suggest seeing physio it will ease off the pain and you will receive exercises to do at home I've had the same problem a few years ago, the only problem is that mine was done on a free health service and for you it will be expensive to pay for the sessions.

Get a few second opinions before you make a final decision. It seems weird that they'll just give you that 50/50 chance.

I used to visit a chiropractor for 5/6 years when i slipped a disc onto a nerve, I went for that option, it's fine now but you have to persevere.

Now i just go once every 9 months to get the "kinks ironed out"

Best way, fuck surgery

Thanks buddy. Good to know you've had the same problem to be able to communicate on this level.

Try getting a few different opinions on the matter. Surgery should be a last resort in my opinion though if the other option doesn't work.

have someone pray for you

regardless make sure to get your protein shake post-workout or you'll lose gains, whey isolate only, with water not milk.

This for sure.

Gatther as much information as you can before making the decision of the surgery. It's basicaly going to decide whether you can have a 'normal' or not. So I'd advice to atleast get a second opinion somewhere else(atleast 1). Ask what they would advice at this stage.

Also Physio can't do any harm, just see what they an do for you aswell.

Get two-three more opinions on surgery before you go ahead with it.  Surgery should be the last option especially if the success lies at 50/50.

Check out multiple chiropractors.  Go to a specialist who focuses on the lumbar region. Ask them for exercises which help keep the area mobile and as well as strengthen it.

Get regular scans on the area to see how the disc sits to see if the chiro is making a difference.

Do all you can to accommodate the injury.  Make sure your mattress is optimal for having a slipped disc in the lumbar area.  How you sleep could be important too.   Consider taking fish/krill oil as it helps with the lubrication of discs.  Go see your doctor and get a prescription for a behind the counter pain killer to minimize the pain as much as possible  Also possibly a strong anti-inflammatory to reduce the inflammation surrounding the disc.

Lastly, perceive and be diligent.  Don't let it get the better of you and be all emo about it.  Do all you can.

Got a relative with a similar problem, chiropractor would be the best bet for a short-term solution to the problem. If it works, at least for a little while, you can look at other alternatives to help deal with the pain.

I would recommend you to fap with a straight back

edit: Back issues are actually pretty serious, cirurgy is the way to go though, there are no better options

Hey man, that really sucks being in your position. I don't know what I'd do. I agree that you should gather more info and talk to people in your life that have your best interest in mind...prob not scapers haha.

I do hope though that whatever decision you make and whatever the result is that you never give up. There is always something out there for you. Here for you if you want someone to talk to.
