Is it bad to only workout your arms and chest?

I know this probably isn't the best place to ask but for like the past 2 or so months i've been trying to even out the marijuana with exercise. Since well cardio sucks and sit ups and all that stomach stuff is useless without the cardio i just do arms. Bi, tris, chest etc etc. I'm starting to get a definition and what not and was wondering if this was bad to only work out your top. Once the snow and cold goes away i'll get back on my bike for the daily 2-4 miles. So uh yeah, someone with some knowledge want to post on this?

i feel like such a dumbass changing my topic title.

Honestly if you mainly like to workout your upper body, just try to do like 15 minutes of cardio: sprint around you neighborhood once before you lift, then maybe afterwards just do one set of sit ups/curls. Just doing a little bit in addition to your workout will help you but still focus on the upper body, and you're whole body will be worked out more.

Working out your lower body isn't a have to, just like working out your upper body isn't a have to. If you want to have strong legs then work them out.

bi's and tri's are good, but it's best to get them worked out through multi-joint lifts (bench press, seated row, pec fly, lat pull down, rear deltoid). it's good to also work out opposing muscles; just like you work out both bicep and tricep, it's good to workout your trap after a bench press through a workout like rear deltoid, or seated row (you can do a variation of the seated row with a dumbell by placing your left hand and left knee for example on your bed and pulling a weight up and down with your right hand off the edge, right foot on the ground, then when you're done with a set turn around and do the other side).

Cardio is really good for strengthening your lungs, especially if what you're trying to balance out is the pipe. If you don't want to spend alot of time running/jogging/riding a bike, try getting a jump rope and using it for 2-3 minutes.

No, working your arms and chest out isn't bad at all, it's definitely better then nothing. For the full effect though try to even out the workout. And ab workouts do help, even if you're not doing cardio. The good thing about abs is you can work them out every day since they're the fastest recovering muscle group of the body, so it's good to take advantage of them  :victory:

looks like Klungo from banjo kazooie, lol

i dont work out, but at work im always lifting piles of plates, giant bags of cardboard, which weigh like 50kg if it's been rained on, so i got decent upper strength, but i havnt done much real exercise, running etc, for ages.

I'd say as long as ur body remains proportionate who gives a shit =p

Well, doesnt hurt for a short while.. or just focusing it more than the rest.. but training your uhm.. endurance or w.e, by running and other excercise, will help you train the rest of the body.

you also want to strengthen your back & legs muscles etc so you dont get any damages when you get stronger arms/chest, also when you get old you might get damaged easyly if your body is too un-harmonic.

sorry for the bad translation to english lol, i feel like im missing alot of words :S

I dont do arms or legs, im skinny as fuck tbh.  All i do is the abs, 150 sit ups a night has helped me achieve and maintain a nice hard six pack.  Like connor said, if your all proportionate who cares :P

Firstly, are you working your back and shoulders? You will seriously regret it if your not.

Working out your legs does not mean running round the garden for abit, or cycling.. This is cardio obviosly, it will build little if any muscle as it does not tear the fibres that must be broken for them to rebuild and become bigger and stronger. You should be training legs every week.. Squats, are a key excersise which also is proven to increase arm mass alot.

Post your work-out if you have any questions. And also your diet if you really want to get the best results.

So you want to lose access fat and tone up? Then you should be doing cardio and eating correctly to lose fat. And doing your excersises of about 12-16 reps. But tbh if your not eating the right foods, e.g. Protein filled like chicken and carb filled like wholemeal pasta/rice, your not going to get much results, if any.

You can easily get a normally good shaped body while just eating what you always ate :o.

I mean I never thought about changing my diet and I still got muscles.

The question is.. What are the foods you always eat?  :p

And im guessing it took you a lot longer then if you were to do everything correctly, and with worse results.

And yeh as X WE ARE138 sais, you should not be doing the same muscle everyday or even more than twice a week tbh. Overtraining is only going to decrease the outcome, more training is deffinately not more results.
