I feel that religion was created to have something to belive in (weather it would be right or wrong) in order to have something to live for. If you give a person religion then they have something in the back of their mind constantly pinging their brain whenever they make a choice and it helps them to do what is morally right. This constant pinging in their bring gives them comfort and justifies them doing right from wrong, or wrong from right. Since we don't want to loose this comfort we acknowledge that doing right is easily the best choice because it keeps us in our comfort level and thats why we continue to belive in religion.

That makes a lot of sence, it's like early laws. Yeah man, it could be very likely that it was used to controll whole world population.

Anyways, my own personal views. No I don't believe 'God' is real. I believe that, when the bible was first written, it was moreso like a fairy tale with many morals, and it was something to abide by and people would suffer should they disobey. The story was passed down until people truly believed that what was said in the bible was real, and its come to today, whereas many people have a large sum of different religions.

Let me simplify what I'm trying to say. I'll use evolution as a reference, since you are debating me on that topic as well.

You can play semantics and claim that it is impossible to disprove god's existence. Using the same logic, you can say that it is impossible to prove evolution with absolute certainty. Although these things are true, it is fallacious to compare the two.

Using observable evidence, we can claim evolution happened with 99% certainty. However, there is 0 evidence backing god's existence. Neither of these numbers are 100%, but one is much closer.

Of course that's perfectly true. But it's not the job of the Atheist to disprove God. It is the job of the Theist to prove it. The Atheist is not the one proposing that there is something that created the Universe, the Theist is. If you were to actually propose that there was a teacup orbiting around the Sun, I would ask for some evidence as to why you came to that conclusion. Of course, the Theist has no proof of it, so we can go along with life without pondering IF the teapot is orbiting along, because there was no proof to being with.

Again, the teapot may be orbiting the Sun, but SINCE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF, I have no problem assuming there is not a God.
